OUTREACH

Holy Family Students Learn About Catholic Social Teaching
by Reaching Out to Help their Neighbors

Charitable outreach to people in need is an important focus for students at Holy Family School. Over the recent school year, students and their families learned how their outreach efforts tie into Catholic Social Teaching.

This year our school has changed our Outreach approach. Instead of school wide collections once a month, we will now have and in-depth outreach program where each classroom supports their own selected program for the whole school year.

Each class will hold collection three times per year: October 23, 2009, January 15, 2010 and March 12, 2010. We will end our community service with a with a prayer service on March 18, 2010.

Below please find the list of classrooms and their outreach focus agency for the 2009-2010 school year:

  • Kindergarten              Sacred Heart Pre-School (art supplies, games, books)

  • First Grade                 Loaves and Fishes (personal care products)

  • Second Grade            Georgia Travis Center (diapers, wipes, baby toys, hand sanitizer)

  • Third Grade                Humane Society (food, toys, and bedding)

  • Fourth Grade              Lucille Packard Children’s Center (toys, games, toys, books)

  • Fifth Grade                 Bill Wilson Center (socks, underwear, blankets, warm clothing)

  • Sixth Grade                San Jose Fire Dept (new toys, no stuffed animals)

  • Seventh Grade           San Jose Family Supportive Services (pillows, blankets)

  • Eighth Grade              Veterans Hospital (travel size personal care products)
